Job Title: Staff Accountant
Reports To: Sr. Accountant, Manager, Director or Partner
Classification: Full Time Non-Exempt

Position Overview: We are looking for an accountant with 1 to 3 years’ experience in public accounting to work in our Lansing, MI office. The right candidate will work under the supervision of experienced accounting staff to perform a variety of basic and intermediate accounting and tax functions.  

Hours: 40 hours per week, with overtime required during peak tax preparation periods. 

Essential Functions: 

  • Understands and applies basic accounting and tax principles; understands cash versus accrual methods of accounting. 
  • Reconciles accounts, obtains supporting documents for account balances, makes adjustments as necessary, and prepares accurate financial statements.  
  • Prepares and indexes work papers in an organized fashion according to firm SOP’s.
  • Performs self-review of all work before submitting for review. 
  • Prepares personal and/or business tax returns based on skill level.
  • Prepares routine correspondence to clients under the supervision of a senior accountant, manager, director or partner Analyzes IRS notices and drafts responses under the supervision of a senior accountant, manager, director or partner.
  • Participates in relevant administrative projects.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent accounting or tax experience required.
  • Excellent verbal and writing skills with a strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to follow directions and ask questions when needed.
  • Basic computer skills and knowledge in Microsoft Office Suite, experience with accounting and tax software preferred.
  • Ability to learn new concepts and adapt to changing technology.

Job Title: Tax Intern
Reports To: Director of Operations
Classification: Part Time Non-Exempt

Position Overview/Responsibilities:

We are looking for a person from approximately February 1 to April 15, 2021 to work in our
Lansing, MI office. The right candidate will work together with all of our staff in the document
scanning area. 
The candidate will be responsible for the scanning of all documents related to
tax return preparation in to our scanning software. Must be able to analyze, sort, follow
procedures and perform work accurately. 
Other duties as assigned.
Hours: 15-20 hours per week, dependent on workload, as needed. Flexible schedule.


  • A business/accounting major pursuing a degree in an accounting related field preferred
  • Excellent verbal skills with a strong attention to detail
  • Ability to follow directions and ask questions when needed
  • Basic computer skills and knowledge in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to learn new software
  • Previous office experience is preferred
